Meet Kevin and Penelope: Our Dynamic, Spirited Sheep Duo 

Kevin and Penelope are the guardians of the barn door at Animal Haven of Asheville, but their journey to sanctuary life is a heartwarming tale of love and rescue. Originally borrowed from a farmer to appear in a play at Western Carolina University, these two quickly stole the hearts of the students involved. Once the play ended, the students couldn’t bear the thought of sending them back, knowing what their fate would be. So, they took action, purchasing Kevin and Penelope from the farmer and turning to Animal Haven to give them a forever home.

Arriving at the sanctuary as bottle-fed babies, Kevin and Penelope have grown into strong, spirited sheep, each having their own unique personality. Much like some of our other beloved residents—like Lizzie the goose and Midnight the goat—Kevin and Penelope are thoughtful about who they trust. It takes time and patience to earn their affection, but once they let you into their world, the bond is truly special. Their gentle, almost human-like personalities have captured the hearts of so many here at the farm. These two remind us every day how meaningful it is to build trust and form connections with one another.

We are so grateful that we have been able to give them the life they deserve. The students who saved them still think of them often and are happy knowing that Kevin and Penelope are thriving and living their best lives.
